By Ed Byard, Chief Negotiator and Chair of Biology
Don’t know if you know the Clint Eastwood film, Unforgiven, in which Clint plays an aging gunfighter who is convinced to come out of retirement to help a group of citizens in a small town who have been seriously wronged by some rogue cowboys and a corrupt sheriff. Well, I have to admit that, this past summer, when I was convinced by Hugh Grant and Lisa McGifford to become the UWFA Chief Negotiator for the upcoming bargaining for a new collective agreement, I thought of just that scenario. I was a former President of, and chief negotiator for, UWFA in the 90’s, and a couple of times since then, but I had been out of any direct involvement in UWFA affairs since about 2006. But I am happy to be back in the saddle, and hope that my ability to realize a good collective agreement is still sharp enough to pull it off.
